The undulating, geometric pattern of the 3D knit design was inspired by anechoic chambers (soundproof rooms). The walls, floor and ceiling of an anechoic chamber absorb acoustic waves, and the undulating shapes of the fluffy, round knit motif of this work are also similar to acoustic insulation panels. Ironically, while this work is modeled after noise-absorbing material, the work is titled “Polka Wave”. The polka is one of the earliest ethnic dances born in Czechoslovakia, with upbeat music. The two calm colors are knitted together in alternating rows, and this unique work appears rhythmical and pleasant.
